Professor Liang-Shih (L.-S.) Fan, who only recently received the American Institute of Chemical Engineering’s highest award for chemical engineering education, was named a 2022 Fellow of the American Chemical Society (ACS).

The ACS Fellows Program was created by the ACS Board of Directors to recognize members of ACS for outstanding achievements in and contributions to science, the profession and the Society. Fellows are selected on the basis of documented excellence in leadership in both science and volunteer service in the ACS community.

Fan, a National Academy of Engineering member, is also a fellow of the American Institute of Chemical Engineering (AIChE), the American Association for the Advancement of Science, and the National Academy of Inventors.

He won the Warren K. Lewis Award for Chemical Engineering Education, AIChE’s top chemical engineering education prize, in June 2022.
