L.-S. Fan receives ACS Distinguished Researcher Award

Each year, the Energy and Fuels Division (ENFL) of the American Chemical Society (ACS) selects one Distinguished Researcher worldwide from among outstanding researchers in the field of petroleum chemistry or chemistry of energy and fuels. This year, Professor Liang-Shih Fan has been selected the sole recipient of the ACS Energy and Fuels Division's 2021 Distinguished Researcher Award. He was selected on the basis of his outstanding contributions in the field of energy and fuels, particularly for his pioneering research and development on chemical looping combustion and chemical looping gasification.

The ACS's ENFL Division will present the award to Professor Fan at the ACS Fall 2021 national meeting, where there will be an ACS ENFL Division Award Symposium to honor Dr. Fan as the recipient of the 2021 Distinguished Researcher Award.

Professor Fan has won many accolades and prestigious awards for his outstanding and innovative contributions to science. Fan is a member of the U.S. National Academy of Engineering and a foreign member of the Indian National Academy of Engineering, Chinese Academy of Engineering, Australian Academy of Technology Science and Engineering, and Mexican Academy of Sciences and Academician of Academia Sinica. He was named as one of the “One Hundred Engineers of the Modern Era” by the American Institute of Chemical Engineers.
