Congratulations to Kyuha Lee and Tapajyoti Ghosh ('19) on their recent award from AIChE Sustainable Engineering Forum (SEF) for their paper, "Toward Multiscale Consequential Sustainable Process Design: Including the Effects of Economy and Resource Constraints with Application to Green Urea Production in a Watershed," which was published in Chemical Engineering Science, 207, 725–743, 2019.

The paper, which was co-authored by the two students alongside their advisor Professor Bhavik Bakshi, was named Best Student Paper by the organization.

Kyuha Lee, a doctoral student who works in Professor Bakshi's lab, focuses his research on sustainable process and supply chain design considering the food-energy-water nexus, economic constraints, and climate change.

Dr. Tapajyoti Ghosh obtained his Ph.D. in 2019. Ghosh's expertise includes life cycle analysis methods for environmental impact assessment; statistical data analysis, optimization, and process design; and economic equilibrium models.

After a year working at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) Energy Initiative, where he developed systems-level environmental and economic analysis tools for the energy and power production sectors, Dr. Ghosh joined the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) in Colorado as a full time research scientist. He had gotten to know the people at NREL during his 2017 internship, and they really wanted him to join their team! Even better, two of his current colleagues also worked with him in Dr. Bakshi's research group - Rebecca Hanes, who got her MS and PhD, and Shubhankar Upasani who got his MS degree.

The National Renewable Energy Laboratory is entirely focused on renewable energy and sustainability. "I am doing exactly the things I did for my research at Ohio State and the things I love and enjoy working on," Ghosh said.

Congratulations on the amazing work, Kyuha and TJ!
