Congratulations to the 2017-18 Chemical Engineering Car Project Team at Ohio State! This spring, Ohio State ChemE Car finished in the top three at the Regional Competition in West Lafayette, Indiana, qualifying the team for the National Competition this fall.

The new technology associated with Project Pressure Vessel (PPV) brought many opportunities and challenges since its inception during the summer of 2016. Some of the team’s best and brightest fine-tuned the PPV to reach the performance observed at the competition.

"AJ Wahlstrom and company deserve all the credit for bringing this idea into fruition. It was remarkable to watch the PPV evolve with all facets focused on continuous improvement," said ChemE Car advisor David Tomasko.

AIChE’s annual Chem-E-Car Competition® engages college students in designing and constructing a car powered by a chemical energy source that will safely carry a specified load over a given distance.

The competition, which involves multiple regional competitions and a final competition at the AIChE Annual Student Conference, increases awareness of the chemical engineering discipline among the public, industry leaders, educators, and other students.
