Yuanxin Chen, a Ph.D. student in Winston Ho’s group, has been selected as one of four Finalists for the new Science & Technology Award from DSM and the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE).  This selection will provide $1,000 to cover any travel and conference registration costs for Yuanxin to present a paper, entitled “Polymerization of High-Molecular-Weight Polyvinylamine for CO2-Selective Membranes with High Separation Performance”, at the AIChE Annual Meeting in Salt Lake City, UT on November 8 – 13, 2015.

The award has been established to recognize and reward excellence in innovative Ph.D. research in polymer technology and is targeted toward Ph.D. students.  This award, which is being co-sponsored by AIChE’s Process Development Division (PDD) and Particle Technology Forum, has a cash prize of $5,000 USD.  Students are nominated by their professor via a letter of nomination and submission of an abstract.  Three to four finalists will be chosen to present their papers during a special session at the Annual Meeting, and a winner will be chosen immediately following the session.  The winner will also receive a cash prize of $5,000.  The theme of the award and session for 2015 is innovative polymerization process technologies and development of polymerization processes for novel performance polymers.  The 2015 award will be presented at the 2015 AIChE Annual Meeting during the PDD Reception.  Each of the four finalists will receive 1,000 USD to cover any travel and conference registration costs.
