Leigh Evrard receives Exemplary Support of Research Activities Award

The College of Engineering's Staff Recognition Award Program recognizes oustanding performance in support of the college's mission and core values. Recipients are chosen on the basis of significant contributions that demonstrate superior support of research activities at the department or college level.

Leigh Evrard's design work in support of teaching and research has been outstanding since he joined the CBE department in 2001. His keen understanding of electronic circuitry, frame construction, device support, and implementing creative ideas has helped faculty execute cutting-edge research, some of which has been commercialized and funded by the DOE, NIH, and other major entities.

He initiated the reconstruction of our chemical storage building, which improved safe handling and disposal of stored chemicals and chemical wastes, and also initiated the Chemical Hygiene Committe to ensure safe operation of both laboratory and equipment procedures.

Leigh also serves as OSHA coordinator and has served on the New Koffolt Laboratories Planning Committee since 2010, requiring significant effort "above and beyond" his normal duties.

Leigh's efforts have directly and significantly increased the research and teaching productivity of the Department. His support is critical to the ability of our faculty to excel in teaching and research.

Thank you, Leigh, and congratulations!
