Winter’s Contributions to Science Recognized by AAAS Fellows Election

Posted:

Each year the council of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) elects as Fellows members “whose efforts on behalf of the advancement of science or its applications are scientifically or socially distinguished.”

This year, the accomplishments of Jessica O. Winter will be celebrated along with other elected fellows at the February 14, 2015 AAAS Annual Meeting, whose theme is Innovations, Information, and Imaging.

Winter is an established leader in nanobiotechnology and known for her work developing magnetic quantum dots for cell and molecular separations. She has previously won numerous other awards and honors.

The tradition of electing AAAS Fellows began in 1874 to recognize members for their scientifically or socially distinguished efforts to advance science or its applications. In addition to publishing Science magazine, AAAS fulfills its mission to advance science, engineering and innovation throughout the world for the benefit of all people through its initiatives in science policy, diplomacy, education and career support, public engagement with science, and other programs.

We congratulate Professor Winter on yet another prestigious honor!
